Iran  a very big country has many masterpieces in its Iran History and it has many Islands and Mountains which surrounded by them .In south of Iran there is Persian Gulf and Oman sea with the most important  canal “The Hurmuz canal “.

The Captain’s Grave in south of Iran is one of the Iran Tourism  Attractions which is   about 2/4 square kilometers in the geographical area 48 ° 55 ’36 “east and latitude 30 ° 20′ 41” north and in the lower islands of “Bonne and Dara”.

The island is from the Persian Gulf non-residential islands and is located at the mouth of the Mosque of Khorasan (Khor in Persian is called a branch of the sea that has entered the land, and Moses is the famous captain named the island in his name.)

The grave island of the Captain is made up of river sediments and tidal streams, which, at the time of the tide, drains the sea to a large extent from the island. In the north of Khormoosi, in the port of Imam Khomeini, and at the mouth of this crust, three islands, Boune, Dara and the grave of the captain “.

At the time of the tide, large sandy stumps come out of the water and connect to the island, increasing its area to several hundred hectares.

Although the island is completely flat and its central part consists of different plants, there is no fresh water in it and is not altogether habitable.

The name of the island is chosen very far away. According to local inhabitants of the port of Mahshahr, during an era of sailing of hand-operated boat ships, an unidentified captain with his family in the glacial waters of the Persian Gulf was on a journey that only his daughter suffered from a severe illness and, due to lack of Access to the physician’s medical treatment is dying, and due to the length of the return journey, they drove it along the way when they reached the island and buried the dead body of the girl there. In fact, the body of the captain’s daughter was buried on this island, not the captain himself.

Historical background

Some local people, while affirming the presence of a captain who could not be transferred to the shore of Mahshahr at the time of his death, also refer to the historical roots of the island.

They believed that during the Achaemenid dynasty of Iran History , Khuzestan’s coasts were completely different today, and the captain’s grave island at that time was not an island but adhered to the mainland and had the best position to build the port and related facilities. For this reason, there is probably a submarine of the Captcha Island, port and urban facilities, and Achaemenid shipyard.

Animal life of the island

White-cheeked tern, bay sea lions, Doras ardeola (salim-e kharchangkhar)  and creepy crayfish are the birds that are abundantly laying on the island. In addition, bird species such as the Kaka, Abchilik, coastal, large herds and animals such as mice, lizards, lizards and turtles also live on the island.

According to Dr. Behrooz Behroozi Rad, the author of the book “Hazardous Habitats of the Persian Gulf”, the island is considered to be a sensitive Persian Gulf habitat, and the Gulf tide is effective on the time of feeding and resting birds, and because of the sandy beach structure and It is a flower. This type of structure is very suitable for feeding birds near aquatic animals.
